Every single day we live weaves its elf into the ‘garment’ of our lifetime-our existence. From the day we were born, we have been designing for ourselves an apparel of a particular fabric, texture, color and size. This is a direct result of the kinds of people we associate with, the places we spent a lot of time. In short, the kind of people or type of things we allow to weave itself into our personal & special apparel.
Now, our garment is clearly portrayed by the way we view ourselves plus how others view us. We cannot undo what has been done neither can we undo the fabric of the last part of our lives. Whether we are still young or old (not so bad), we can decide which type of fabric to be woven into the picture of the rest of our lives. In essence, we can determine who to and who not to take into our tomorrow since this decision would have a strong impact on our garment fabric.
What I believe is that you can use others to make a better garment (that is beautify our existing garment). We can enhance the way we perceive ourselves and how others perceive us by changing
· the people we spend time with
· the books we read
· the places we go to and most importantly,
· the interpretation we give to issues and circumstances around us.
Separate the people in your life according to priority-
· Those with the highest impact on your personal development
· Your loved ones
· Those you’d love to meet
· Those with strong potential for affecting you positively and
· Those you just like
Do not play with the list- do not include ‘not very important people’. The less they are, the easier it is to manage them.
Next time you have to visit or call someone, you already have a list of people you should pay more attention to. Set aside time (on phone or face to face) to keep in touch with them regularly. Do this for the names on your phone, your internet cycle of friends.
Bottom line; create for yourself a niche among your top cycle of friends. This is to ensure sustainable advancement in every part of your life. This way, you can be actively involved in knitting your garment. You don’t have to be grey-heading before you realize your life is like a movie.
That day when you are really old, you should smile from your ‘heart of heart’. This is your mission- your task. Go take what belongs to you, your life.
See you at the top!
